According to the foundation records the convent was established by the Moravian Margrave John Henry in 1375, and the construction lasted until c. 1387. About fifteen years later it is said that the convent was destroyed by fire; in 1782 it was closed down and was later used as a barracks. The church served as the parish church for the inhabitants of Královo Pole and the surrounding settlements. Today it represents one of the city’s most valuable gothic buildings dressed, however, in a baroque mantle. In the church interior we can see the baroque style both in the side chapels, the frescoes of which were painted in 1766-79 by Franz Anton Maulbertsch, and also in the decoration of the main space. As well as the rich carvings of the choir stalls from the beginning of the 17th century, there we can also find a high-quality altar, pulpit and pictures of the twelve apostles (by Josef Stern).
